There are 2 species of rat invading Britain, the brown (common) Rat and the Black (ship) Rat. The Brown Rat is the type that you will most likely come across with their habitat being grassy banks, under sheds and near composite heaps but the cold winter months shows an increase of the species moving inside for warmth, shelter and food supplies and they will make their way to roof spaces, under floorboards, in wall cavities and sewer systems.
Rats generally feed at night consuming at least 50g per day preferring cereal products but will also eat pretty much anything humans eats. Rats can inflict a great amount of structural damage by gnawing, and frequently found to do this around electrical cables so they also pose fire risks.
Rats are difficult for the untrained professional to irradiate as they are highly mobile, breed rapidly and are very adaptable, so we recommend that you seek professional help with the problem at the very onset.
